MINTO SOCIETY HISTORY
The Minto Communication Society (MCS) was registered as a non-profit society in June 2008 from the remnants of the now defunct Minto TV Society.
MCS has the primary objective of delivering high speed internet service as well as continuing and expanding Minto TV’s previous mandate.
MCS's goal was to provide communication services to Gold Bridge, Gun Lake, Tyaughton Lake, Gun Creek Road and Bralorne. The lack of interest from any commercial operators to provide service to the Bridge River Valley required that our local community launch the Minto Communications Society to implement broadband access.
The Premier’s New Era commitment in 2002 was to bridge the digital divide in BC to ensure that all 366 BC communities had affordable high speed internet access. In March 2010 MCS received a grant from NetworkBC to provide broadband internet to Gold Bridge, Gun Lake, and Tyaughton Lake.
This award was made possible through the : CCA and Connecting Citizens Grant Program and the (connected to CCA program)TELUS Expression of Interest Program
